Here are some quick references for you if you are new to the game
- When the game starts for the first time you will immediately go to the character creation screen to make your character.
- When you enter the game a series of question marks will appear just on top of your action bar that will show you hints on how to play the game and teach you the basic elements like how to move, start a quest, combat and so forth. You can also access our in-game help system by clicking "H" key which will take you to a page where you can read up more about playing Islands Of War.
- If you have any questions about anything on your interface, hold your mouse over it to bring up a tool-tip with information on it.
- To move in the game world, use the arrow keys or the WASD keys on your keyboard or click your left and right mouse button simultaneously. You can adjust your character's view by holding your left mouse button in and moving the mouse to pan around him or holding the right mouse button in to change the direction your character is facing.
- If you encounter an object, monster, or character that you can interact with, your mouse pointer will turn into an icon that will indicate what you can do.

Currently the game is offline and in the process of being updated to the second beta stage, it will be online at the end of AugustĀ 2010 again but limited to 5 hours a day, from 10am to 2pm mountain time.
Once you have created your account and downloaded the client and assets, you can enter the game and begin playing. At the login screen, enter the account name and password that you chose when you created your account. Then you will be taken to the Multiverse World Browser where you will see Islands Of War listed. Choose Islands Of War from the list of worlds available and click enter. Once you start the game, you will be prompted to read and agree to our Terms of Use Agreement and End User License Agreement. After that you will be taken to a screen to create your character.
- Creating Your Character The first step in creating your character is choosing his or her race, gender, and affinity. It's a good idea to do some research before making this choice, choosing the right race and affinity will be the defining traits of your character and combat style. Although you can change what aspect your character learns at a later stage in the game to create a hybrid character, it will come at a certain cost so choose wisely. Each Race also has some specific abilities associated with that race.
- Choose a Race and Gender Currently we only have two races available to play, the Humans and the Orcs. Clicking on that race portrait will bring up its information and display the character in the center of the screen. More of the races of Talgania will become available at a later stage. You can choose between a male or female gender, what gender you choose will not influence your character stats in game in any way.
- Choose a Affinity You can click on the left and right arrows next to the affinity icons to scroll through them and see what aspects are associated to them. Although you will choose a specific affinity, you can learn aspect from other affinity's in the game at a additional cost thus creating a hybrid character.
- Choose a Name The name you choose will represent you to everyone you meet in Islands Of War, so choose wisely! Your name can only be one word and may not consist of more than 8 alphabetical letters. Be aware of the naming policy so that you do not risk penalties such as having to rename your character. Once you've picked your name, your character will be ready to begin his or her adventuring into the world of Talgania. Click the "Create" button to create the character.
- Entering the world When you have created your character you will be sent to the world login screen, from here you can select between any character you have created and by pressing the " Enter " button you will be transported to the world where you can start your adventuring.
- Dying It is more than likely that at some point you will die, depending in which zone tier that happens will set what type of consequences to be placed on your character. However, when you just start the game you will most likely be in a tier1 zone thus will only loose half your health when you are revived. When you die you will immediately be able to release your spirit with one click, at which point you will lose at least half your health and you will be transported to the nearest graveyard where you will be revived.
