The Islands of War class system is based on elements called Affinities. A player can choose between 4 Affinities: Earth, Life, Water and Death. Each Affinity has its own unique combat style utilizing a specific weapon type and a set of aspects to define it. These aspects each have abilities associated with them and as a player uses abilities their aspect level increases in that specific aspect. Each time the character levels up they will gain aspect points that they can apply to any aspect they choose increasing the maximum level of that aspect, even if that aspect is not of the affinity they started off with. This allows the creation of a hybrid character with its own unique combat style. Each affinity also has a profession-based aspect with some abilities that are associated with that profession and others still associated to combat, thus a player can create a totally profession orientated character if they wish and still be able to use them in combat. This system allows for total customization of the character to suit a specific combat and tactic style.
Earth(Fighter): Damage Mitigation Tank with melee stuns.
Earth(Captain): Durable support role, group buffs and minor debuff.
Many try to sum up Earth Affinity as just a Warrior or Heavy Fighter but they have the depth of the Earth and
are far more than that simple title implies. Often they are recognized by their stoic and steely attitude and
blunt methods. They tend to wear the heaviest armors and wield two hammers. When fighting they stand in
the forefront of battles leading and inspiring their allies and directing the enemies to themselves. Faced with
a foe they simply accept the incoming attacks with confidence as they will do little harm and strike hard in
return.Their methods when dealing peacefully with others are similar, accepting insults and praise the same
and disregarding it, they take charge and go straight to their goal. Their associated crafting skill is
Blacksmithing assisting them in both the creation and use of metal armor and weapons.

Life(Fighter): Very defensive melee with staff and pet.
Life(Healer): Uses magic to restore and encourage himself andallies.
Life Affinity's foundation is the belief that everything is connected.The proliferation and diversity of life is
cherished by them with the striving and expansion of life in all directions and the struggle for success. This
affinity has managed to obtain perfection in the art of the staff. Even though they don't look like fighters
with a staff and a pet on their side they are formidable defensive fighters. Calling upon the energy's of
nature the healer uses magic to restore and encourage himself and allies to new heights withstanding
attacks on the battlefield and giving their allies the edge needed to win the battle.Being a perfect ally when
in combat as a group a typical role for a Life Affinity will be defensive support, magic buffs and defense.
Utilizing their connection with nature their crafting skill Life shaping allows them to create items from nature.

Water(Fighter): Bleed/Poison melee with 2H sword.
Water(Healer): Support role, curing status effects.
Water Affinity people are often calm and serene, however when agitated they can be as relentless as the
waves or brutal like a waterfall. They are usually combat medics, both tending to the wounded and disabling
opponents who interfere. Utilizing a massive two-handed sword and light or medium armor, despite their
attitude, Water Affinities are no strangers to front line combat. Like the crashing waves, they swirl around any
obstacle and do not let it deter them from their goal, wearing down everything in their way. In combat, they
cripple their opponents with flowing motions, forming an unstoppable force which crashes down upon their
enemies while they deal their final blow.While normally wielding their two handed weapon would exclude them
from throwing knives and darts, they have mastered the skills to throw with deadly accuracy in the moment.

Death(Fighter): Long Range Rifleman with Bayonette.
Death(Snare/Distract CC): Crippling and debilitiating attacks and pets.
It is often said that curiosity killed the cat; however, without it there would be no great achievements. Death
Affinities search for what is out of reach or out of sight, whether it's seeking how the body functions, calling to
the soul after it has departed, or a more worldly understanding of the materials around us. Death Affinities
have a great attention to detail and a complete disregard for the consequences of their actions. If people get
hurt, killed, or things get damaged in their pursuit of knowledge, it is unimportant to them so long as their
search was not in vain. This search leaves them cold and impersonal, focused upon themselves and their
search with every little success fueling a great ego and self importance. Using their rifles for long range
combined with their knowledge of the afterlife they can be one of the most deadliest of opponents.
